The Straits Settlements Coins

    The Staits Settlements was established in 1826 which consist of Penang, Singapore and Malacca. The coins with the inscription of Straits Settlements were first issued in 1871. Before that, coins bearing the words 'East India Company'were used .Then in the year of 1862, coins with inscription of ' India Straits ' were issued when the settlements were under the control of Calcutta government based in India.  In the year of 1867,the settlements were directly ruled as the Crown Colony by the Colonial Office in London.
