Displayed here are the currency which issued just before the invasion of the Japanese in December 1941. On 1st September 1940 , there was emergency issues of 25 cent . All these currencies have the potrait of King George VI.

Currency during 1952-1957(Queen Elizabeth II)

Currency was issued by the Board of Commissioner of Currency , Malaya and British Borneo since 1 January 1952. The currency during this period bore the potrait of Queen Elizabeth II .The currency shown here each has the potrait of the queen on the observe while reserve shows the state emblems of Federation of Malaya and its constituent components : Singapore, Sabah , Sarawak and Brunei. Date of issue : 21 March 1953.

The Currency of the Federation of Malaya

Banknotes with new designs were issued after the independence of Malaya . $1 note has the picture of fishing boat issued in 1959. In 1961, $10 notes with design of farmer and buffalo ploughing the paddy field  were issued. Both remain in circulation until 16 January 1969. The Board of Commissioners of Currency ,Malaya and British Borneo wound up on 30 November 1979.
